Alzheimers/Dementia

If the person is still in the early stages have them tell their own stories. Alzheimer’s initially effects the short term memory, however, the long term memory may still be very good and the stories from when they were young are still readily available. Record how they talk, their special sayings, their unique way of speaking, laughing, their essence, and keep it forever. If they are not able to or do not wish to speak on the video, a slide show of their life can be made, family members, friends, and colleagues may also be interviewed.

The following is recommended by the Alzheimer’s Society…

Make a special 5 – 15 minute video to be shown to every new caregiver. Let them know how incredible the person that they will be helping is and a little bit about the life that they have lived. Include pictures, music, titles, and a professional narration if you choose.
